This Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain has the following specification: Colour: Mahogany Size: 5 litre Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain is suitable for all softwood and hardwood apart from decking or areas subject to heavy wear/abrasion. It is particularly suitable for joinery such as doors and windows, where its flexible nature and water repellency provide long-lasting protection. For optimum durability on new wood, the use of Sadolin Classic as a base coat is recommended, particularly when treating hardwoods. - Surface Preparation – Timber surfaces need to be clean, dry, and structurally sound. The wood’s moisture content should not exceed 18% before applying Sadolin Woodstain. Remove all previous coatings and finishes by sanding to reveal clean, sound, bare wood. Eliminate any surface dirt, debris, mould, algae, or fungi with an appropriate exterior wood cleaner. Use a scraper to remove any resinous deposits. Wipe exposed bare timber surfaces with a cloth dampened with methylated spirits to degrease them. Dense exotic hardwoods such as Teak, Ipe, Meranti, and Balau should be degreased thoroughly with methylated spirits before applying Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain. Avoid using knotting agents with Sadolin Woodstain systems. Use wood fillers designed for exterior timber to address minor surface defects, imperfections, and open joints. Only use non-ferrous screws, nails, and fixings.
- Instructions for Use – For new timber, treat with two coats of clear Sadolin Quick Drying Wood Preserver, allow 24 hours drying time between coats, then apply one full coat of Sadolin Classic Wood Protection. For old or previously treated timber, remove all previous coatings, clean the surface, and apply Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain.
